PARTIAL DENTURES

If several teeth are missing in one arch of the mouth, our dentists may recommend partial dentures. A partial denture (often simply called a “partial”) is a removable set of artificial teeth mounted on a metal framework that is retained and supported by the underlying tissues and remaining teeth. Unlike a bridge, which is fixed in place and requires that adjacent teeth are crowned, a partial is removable and makes it unnecessary to reduce existing tooth structure. It can be inserted and removed by the patient at his or her convenience, making cleaning and future adjustments by your dentist much easier. Partial dentures also require fewer intraoral procedures than many fixed restorations, meaning fewer appointments, less time in the dental chair, and a cost savings to you!

Partial dentures are a great way to restore lost functions such as proper chewing and clear speech, stabilize the arch, and improve the appearance of your smile.

While we do create partial dentures for our patients, our practice is not equipped to create full dentures, which are needed if all of the natural teeth in one arch are missing.
